Version 1.4 to 2.0 upgrade information to data users

The operational TEMIS UV data product service undergoes a major upgrade, which will be made publicly available on 29 May 2017.

The main point of the upgrade for data users is that the spatial resolution has been increased from   0.5 x 0.5 degrees   to   0.25 x 0.25 degrees.

At the same time we have improved the structure of the HDF-4 data files, with new names of datasets and more information (attributes).

UV index and UV dose v2 data file structure

Anyone reading the HDF-4 data files therefore has to adapt their reading routines to the new resolution and new dataset names.

For transition convenience the erythemal UV index data is also (temporarily!) offered downgraded to the old 0.5 x 0.5 degrees resolution with old dataset names; these files have '_v12' in their name.

Direct links to the near-real time files do not change. Archived files are, however, stored in a different file structure.

The structure of the station overpass files also changes: more data is added to those files.

In case you encounter any problems or technical issues caused by this upgrade, please contact us by sending an e-mail to   geffen@knmi.nl .
