Introduction

These tropospheric NO2 columns are derived from satellite observations by the OMI instrument: slant column NO2 retrievals are done with the DOAS technique; the KNMI combined modelling/retrieval/assimilation approach is used to determine the vertical tropospheric column. The ghost column has been removed in order to combine clouded and cloud free retrievals. The trajectory simulations are done with the FLEXPART program using EDGAR 3.2 FT2000 NOx emission data and setting the atmospheric lifetime of NOx to 2 days. Apart from the total columns, the vertical distribution is plotted as well. The values in these plots represent the maximal NOx concentration along each longitudinal band. All data products depend on the meteorological forecast of ECMWF.
