The satellite product for carbonmonoxide (CO) based on SCIAMACHY observations is presented on this page.
A.M.S. Gloudemans, H. Schrijver, O.P. Hasekamp, and I. Aben, Error analysis for CO and CH4 total column retrievals from SCIAMACHY 2.3 micron spectra, Atmos. Chem. Physic., 8, 3999-4017, 2008.The SCIAMACHY CO data presented here are the result of the application of the Iterative Maximum Likelihood Method (IMLM) retrieval algorithm developed at the Netherlands Institute for Space Research (SRON). The IMLM algorithm is described in the publication above. The averages and errors of the SCIAMACHY CO mean data are calculated using the error weighted means method outlined in the publication
A.T.J. de Laat, A.M.S. Gloudemans, H. Schrijver, M.M.P. van den Broek, J.F. Meirink, I. Aben and M. Krol, Quantitative analysis of SCIAMACHY carbon monoxide total column measurements, Geophys. Res. Lett., 33, L07807, doi:10.1029/2005GL025530, 2006.,and these errors should be considered when using the data. The original SRON SCIAMACHY CO data can be obtained here. In order to insure that the quality and limitations of the SRON data are accurately represented, it is kindly requested to send manuscripts using these data to SRON for review before they are submitted for publication. Please contact R. A. Scheepmaker for any support and feedback to the use of the data. Distribution of TEMIS CO data sets is funded by ESA. The data are not copyrighted and are open to all for both commercial and non-commercial uses.
We further request that you include the following acknowledgment: "We acknowledge the free use of CO total column data from the SCIAMACHY sensor from www.temis.nl. The CO data products of SCIAMACHY were generated by the Netherlands Institute for Space Research (SRON)." We would appreciate receiving a copy of your publication.
